1. Entry Level Course
and On-line ePrep Module

The on-line Entry Level ePrep module is mandatory and is part of the preparation required for attending the 3 day on snow course. It will guide candidates through key concepts and terminology covered during the course. Successful completion of the ePrep module requires a 75% result on multiple choice tests in the application. If this is not completed before the course, coaches will be required to compete it, or a paper version, as homework during the evening after day 1 on course. The module will take about 3-4 hours to complete and can be done in as many sittings as you like. The application "remembers" where you left off.
You may log in to the application any time AFTER the current season Entry Level course schedule is posted for province where the course is offered.
You can check out a demo version of the application as well. It is fully functional but will not record test scores.
Upon registration for an Entry Level course a link to the ePrep application will automatically be provided.

The 3 day Entry Level course include free ski and gate drills for SL and GS, teaching and learning principles, planning a day, ethical decision making. practice and safety considerations. Practice coaching sessions are part of the course for each candidate.
The evaluation portion of the course assesses the candidate's ability to demonstrate free skiing skills. Candidates must pass the skiing evaluation to successfully complete the course. Re-evaluations for skiing are available.

Licensing credits for this course are: 6 education credits and 1 risk management credit. This satisfies all credit requirements for the annual ACA-CSCF Coach License.

2. NCCP Make Ethical Decisions On-line Evaluation

Anytime after completing the CSCF Entry Level course you can log on to the Coaching Association of Canada web site at www.coach.ca to complete this evaluation.

Licensing credits for this on-line evaluation are 2 education credits and 0 risk management credits. A minimum of 4 and 1 respectively are required for the annual ACA-CSCF Coach License.

NCCP numbers are assigned by the Coaching Association of Canada on first time entry into the NCCP database. This usually occurs after CSCF submission of Entry Level course results to the NCCP database. This can take up to 2-3 months following completion of the course. If you have previously taken generic NCCP courses or other sport courses you may already have an NCCP number.
For detailed instruction on how to set up an NCCP COACH account and how to log onto the Make Ethical Decision on-line evaluation, click here.

The CSCF recommends that all coaches do this evaluation as soon after completing the Entry Level course as possible or as part of the Entry Level Mentor Program (see 3. below). Keep your Entry Level course Reference Material and review the Make Ethical Decisions section prior to registering for the on-line evaluation.

3. Entry Level Mentor Program and Practical Coaching

The coaching practicum is completed during a season of coaching in an Entry Level ski racing program in a club or ski school under the guidance of a local Entry Level mentor-evaluator. This involves the completion of the Entry Level Coach Learning Guide and Journal while coaching in an Entry Level program. The journal covers a number of practical aspects of coaching as well as an on hill coaching evaluation by the mentor-evaluator. Check with your club or ski school for mentor availability.
