The Snow Park Certification course is designed for any skier with park experience who wants an introduction to teaching snow park skills. It includes:

1. An introduction to teaching snow park skills
2. Practical ski improvement and teaching methods with a technical understanding and development of the guest experience
3. Upon successful completion of the course, the candidate is certified to teach snow park skills up to and including intermediate skill levels.

Snowpark Training vs. Snow Park Certification

The CSIA offers two options for the Snow Park program.

Snowpark Certification is a 3 day (20 hour) course for any competent parallel skier over the age of 15 with some park experience. The successful candidate is certified to teach snow park skills up to and including intermediate skill level. The program covers terrain park etiquette and safety, teaching methodology for switch skiing rails, jumps and an intro to half pipe. Candidates are tested on their skiing and teaching skills and must pass the standards to be certified.

Snowpark Training is a 2 day (13 hour) program for instructors or coaches already certified with the CSCF or CSIA and want a basic knowledge of the terrain park, etiquette and safety. The teaching progressions for switch skiing, rails and jumps are covered as well as basics of the half-pipe. Participants are not tested and do not need to be able to demonstrate the skills, but the training provides the tools to take students into the terrain park safely. This program is offered on its own or in conjunction with the first 2 days of a Certification program.

The level 2 Certified Ski Instructor course content is directed at full and part-time ski instructors and includes:

1. techniques and strategies for effective communication, group dynamics, lesson planning and alternate teaching methods
2. training in selection of skills for the development of parallel skiers
3. developing strategies for effective analysis and development
4. on-line workshops on guest service and teaching children
5. 
   
6. Duration:5 days / Night course: 3 nights and 3 days

The Level 2 Ski Certification Course content is directed at full and part-time instructors who wish to achieve the teaching and skiing components separately and includes;

1. better understanding of technique and methodology
2. technical understanding, development and improvement of guest service skills
3. coaching on level 2 skiing only
4. suggestions and strategies for long-term development with the goal of achieving the Level 2 skiing standard
5. being able to demonstrate technical skiing skills up to intermediate parallel skill level

The level 3 Certified Ski Instructor course is an advanced training certification. It includes:

2. training in strategies to perfect and refine skiing skills for advanced skiers
3. skiing and teaching methodology of advanced terrain (bumps)
4. development of methods for effective analysis and development
5. a workshops on mountain safety

The level 4 Senior Ski Instructor is an expert, internationally recognized course designed to develop the abilities of experienced instructors into trainers and leaders. It includes:

1. developing techniques and strategies for teaching experts and develop instructors
2. perfecting assessment and development skills at all levels of skiers and
3. perfecting skiing and methodology on all terrain for all levels of skiers

5. Duration:6 days + 4 separate days of exams
6. Prerequisites:CSIA Level 3 + CSCF Development Level (Trained) + 2 day GS module or
7.  CSIA Level 3 + CSGA Basic Skills Course + 2 day GS module or

9.  Exempted from taking the 2 days GS modules are: Members with Level 3 CSCF OR with 100 FIS points or less.
