CSIA Organizational Announcement

Montreal, June 1st, 2011 The Board of Directors of the Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance is pleased to announce the outcome of a leadership review that began in January 2011. From this process, a new structure for the organization has been developed.

Effective immediately, Martin Jean will assume the role of Director of Education and Membership Services. Martin brings over 25 years of experience within the CSIA to this new position that will include responsibility for all educational development programs, membership communications, marketing, sponsorship as well as becoming the liaison for National/Regional and ski industry relations.

Also effective immediately, Lisa Cambise will assume the role of Director of Shared Services and oversee all back-office functions including Finance, Human Resource Management, Information Technology, Facilities Management, Risk Management, Legal, and Records Management. As a Certified General Accountant with over 13 years’ experience within the CSIA, Lisa brings a unique and diverse set of skills and industry knowledge to this position.

The board is also pleased to announce that Dan Ralph will be retained in his current Managing Director’s role to guide the transition to this new leadership structure.

Further changes in our staffing structure will see John Gillies and Warren Jobbitt assume the roles of Manager of Educational Development East and West respectively. Both John and Warren will expand their responsibilities related to educational program design, course conductor development, program auditing and the advancement in ski and teaching methodology. Frances Dion has assumed the role of Coordinator of Shared Services to provide operational support related to Human Resources, Records Management, Facilities Management, Risk Management and Board Administration.

The CSIA Board of Directors together with this new leadership team is embarking on an exciting and extensive product and program renewal initiative that will transform the organization and ensure its continued success for future years to come. We will be sharing much more about our vision for the future in the weeks and months to come.

The CSIA announces a change at the Board of Directors

Montreal, April 04, 2011 The CSIA board of directors wishes to announce that Kirsti Suutari has chosen to transition to the Past Chair position in advance of the anniversary of her final term of office this spring. The board has chosen Otto Kamstra as the new in-coming CSIA chairman. This decision was made to facilitate a smooth transition of board leadership responsibilities and to fully engage the new chairperson in many of the projects proposed for next season.

Kirsti’s accomplishments while serving as the CSIA Chairperson are extensive and impressive indeed. She has contributed countless hours to our organization throughout her term of office and we will be forever grateful for her contribution in making our organization that much stronger while under her leadership.

Otto Kamstra has been an active member of the CSIA for over 25 years, he is a current CSIA Course Conductor, past General Manager of Canada’s largest Snow School at Whistler Blackcomb and has extensive Board experience including past President of the CASI and a 5 year term on the CSIA Board in the mid 90’s.

Kirsti will remain an active member on the CSIA board as Past Chair, with Dan Blankstein assuming the Vice-Chair role, Brian Rhodes as Treasurer, David Green as Secretary, Simon Blouin a member-at-large and Darcy Verhun as the CSCF representative to the board.

Congratulations Kirsti on a job well done and we wish Otto much success in his new chairman role !!
