CSIA News

Happy September, CSIA Member!

MANAGING DIRECTOR’S COMMUNIQUÉ

We have restructured our Membership communication in this new format, to do a better job of keeping the Membership up to date and involved. These biweekly communiqués (published every second Thursday) are updated and hosted on snowpro.com, in the main navigation screen (see below). This new format will keep all the relevant updates at your fingertips, even if you missed an email!

I will apologize in advance for the length of this second edition, however as we move towards the upcoming ski season, there is a lot to share! Here we go…

COVID-19

Last year, through our protocols and the diligence of our Membership (each of you), we proved that we could safely operate our on-hill Programs (zero incidents of transmission in our programs).

I would like to be saying that COVID-19 and the Global Pandemic is in the rear-view mirror, but it is not. Although we are expecting fewer restrictions going forward, the reality is COVID-19 will continue to impact our operations in the upcoming season. We are monitoring regulations across the country and working with our ski area partners as we develop our best practices moving into this next ski season.

As we monitor the situation, we would like to hear from each of you. If you wish, please click here to fill out the very brief survey on COVID-19 vaccination.

FALL PRO DAY CAMPS (previously know as “Conventions”)

Mont-Tremblant

At the time of writing this Communiqué, some of the details of the Mont-Tremblant remain unknown. We are confident that we will hold an event that includes on-hill programming, and we will release those details shortly. What we don’t know at this point in time is the extent of what social and indoor components we will be able to offer. This is due to 2 reasons:  It is not clear at this time due to guidelines outlined by Public Health, that we would be able to meet indoors, and any indoor components are further complicated by the extensive damage done to our long-standing venue Quartier Tremblant - Centre des Congrès, following the unfortunate flash floods this past June. We are looking at other options to see what is viable. Again, we hope to update everyone as soon as possible.

Lake Louise

The Lake Louise event status is different! We are looking forward to hosting a Fall Pro Day Camp at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, in the week prior to the World Cup events at the resort! We once hosted our Western fall events at the World Class Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, but were squeezed out by the World Cup Schedule. Changes in that schedule have allowed us to return in 2021-2022. This, combined with increased early season snow-making capacity at “the Lake” set the stage for a great kick off to the winter!

Room rates start from $185.00 plus service charge and tax for “Run of House” rooms.

Rates are valid from Sunday, November 14 through to Thursday night November 18 (checking out Friday morning of the 19th).

Pro Day Camp will run Wednesday, November 17, Thursday, November 18, and Friday, November 19th. It can also be booked “à la carte” 1, 2, or 3 days.

FYI - The CSIA  Annual General Meeting will take place Tuesday, November 16th (both in person and virtual – official notice will be sent later) and the Hall of Fame Gala dinner (75$ plus grat.) will take place on Thursday, November 18th (proof of vaccination is anticipated).

GOVERNANCE RESOURCES

New Communication Policy

This past spring the National Board passed a new Communication Policy, to ensure that Members' concerns and feedback are dealt with precisely and in a timely manner. This new policy is hosted on snowpro.com. Click here to consult the policy.

We have also found through feedback, that our structure needed to be better clarified, therefore the following “one-pager” was created to simply illustrate the structure of the CSIA.
