Welcome to this 11th edition of the Communiqué!

GENERAL UPDATES

Hello Members,

I am writing this edition of the Communiqué, after attending the Level 4 Selection Camp at Craigleith, this past week. After Ontario’s slow start to the season, it was so nice to see this latest storm cycle bring the much-needed snow. On Friday, January 7th, the participants, and Course Conductors of the Selection Camp (and myself) had a chance to ski some amazing snow…. I have had a chance to ski in some great conditions over the years, and the ones we had were great by all standards…Such a treat!

Since the last edition of the Communiqué, the Staff Team has been busy preparing for the Programs in the weeks ahead and the start of the Interski Team Selection.

In this past month, we have finalized the choice of our Interski Team Selection Judges. Here they are:

In Eastern Canada:

  • Pierre Godbout
  • Jean Marcel Dumontier
  • Sunny Verreault
  • Matt Cuccaro
  • Fred Lepine

In Western Canada:

  • Natalie Wood
  • Doug Perry
  • Tom Klingspohn
  • Mike Manara
  • Wade Sutton

The Judges listed above along with the Coaching Staff composed of:

  • Jeff Marks
  • Luc Néron
  • Mark Sedgwick

They will be deciding who makes the first cut at the Team Selection events during these two upcoming dates:

  • January 24, 25 at Mont Sainte-Anne (Qc)
  • January 27, 28 at Sun Peaks (BC)

The Interski Team has been a key part of our culture for decades. The Team’s impact on our entire organization goes well beyond our attendance at the Interski Event. To this day, I still remember back to my early days in the industry as a Level 2 Instructor, seeing the short film “Movement and Motion” by Warren Miller, which was featuring the CSIA’s 1983 Demonstration Team (click here to watch a clip). Once I saw that film, it inspired me to take up the profession and pursue my own development through our certification system.  I know countless Interski Team Members from our many Teams over the years have been inspiring our fellow Members in their own development pathways. I am super excited about the creation of our next Interski Team during the remainder of this season!
