Welcome to this 21st edition of the Communiqué!
GENERAL UPDATES:
Dear CSIA Member,
I hope this email finds everyone well into their spring routines and that you are getting a chance to recharge after the busy winter.
At the office (virtually) we are still in a busy part of our cycle as we work with your National Board to prepare the operational plan and budget for the year ahead. Our fiscal year-end is June 30th.
Along with Jeff Marks (National Program Director), I attended the OSRA (Ontario Ski Area Operators Association) Spring Congress last week. This week, we are attending the ASSQ (Association des stations de ski du Québec) Congress, along with Luc Néron ( Product Quality Director) and Mario Bourassa (Education Program Coordinator for Quebec). The connections and energy at both conferences are really exciting as the Industry moves forward to next season.
The Canadian Ski Council has estimated that 2022 will be a record-breaking year for the Ski Industry in Canada, with 18.1 million skier visits. This growth, alongside the changing buying habits of the market (i.e., greater propensity to take lessons) means a lot of opportunities ahead for our Members.
During these conferences, we have had a chance to connect with numerous Ski School Directors and Ski Area General Managers and there is a lot of momentum that will create increased opportunities and increased benefits for ski pros across the country. In the Communiqué issues ahead, we will regularly update you on the initiatives that will come as the result of the collaboration with our Ski Industry partners.
RECENT JOB POSTINGS
Earlier this week we started the recruitment process for two key staff roles in our organization: the Education Program Coordinators (EPC’s) for both Ontario and Alberta. These are both full-time, year-round positions and an exciting opportunity at the CSIA! To find out more about the recruitment process, click here to read the communication that was sent out on Tuesday this week.
