Welcome to this 7th edition of the Communiqué!
GENERAL UPDATES
COURSE CONDUCTOR TRAINING, AGM, AND LAKE LOUISE PRO DAYS CAMP
I am writing this edition from the slopes of Lake Louise. We are just wrapping up the first two sessions of Course Conductor Training on-snow. Course Conductors in these first two sessions have come from every corner of the country, and they are trained up and excited to head back to their home regions! We have been lucky here at Lake Louise to have had some epic early season conditions! And with all the crazy weather events in Western Canada, it was no small feat for some of our Members to attend!
Also, during this week, the Annual General Meeting took place, both in-person and broadcasted virtually via zoom – our first hybrid meeting, and most likely our AGM model going forward. To coincide with the AGM, this was the first “face-to-face” meeting of the National Board and the Regional Chairs since Toronto in 2019. Although we have had a lot of connection and productivity holding the monthly meetings via zoom, this chance to get together in person was valuable in solidifying connections and setting the stage for a great season of work ahead!
This face-to-face meeting also included a presentation to the NB/RC meeting by Eliza Kuntz (Chair of the PSIA) and Nick Herrin (CEO of the PSIA). It was great for our team to connect with them and learn from each other.
On a personal note, for me being back in person, with some of our francophone Members has helped to get back on course in learning the language, something I am truly grateful for!
Also happening this week at Lake Louise is our first Pro Day camp of the season! It is just incredible to be back on snow with the organization. This first Pro Day Camp has also given Members a chance to connect with two guest Members from the PSIA National Team – Josh Fogg from Aspen and Stephen Helfenbein from Park City.
Tonight, everyone here at the Pro Days Camp in Lake Louise is attending the Gala dinner, including this year’s Hall of Fame ceremony. Knute Dohnberg and Eric Rousseau (posthumously) will be inducted. Pierre Godbout’s induction ceremony will be held at Mont Tremblant, during the Eastern Pro Days camp event in early December.
