The Canadian Ski Instructors’ Alliance (CSIA) is pleased to announce the formation of a new national volunteer advisory group: the Snow School Programs Committee.
This committee is being established to strengthen collaboration between the CSIA and snow schools across Canada, ensuring that CSIA programs, resources, and services continue to evolve in ways that meaningfully support the operational realities of ski resorts, the professional development of instructors, and the overall quality and safety of the guest experience.
Aligned with the CSIA’s vision of advancing the standard of ski instruction in Canada and its mission to support instructor development and industry growth, the committee will provide strategic insight and practical feedback to help guide priorities and initiatives.
Committee Mandate
Through intentional collaboration, the Snow School Programs Committee will:
- Identify emerging needs and challenges related to instructor recruitment, development, and retention
- Share leading practices that contribute to safe, high-quality guest experiences and the long-term growth of skiing in Canada
- Strengthen alignment and partnership between the CSIA and snow schools
- Enhance awareness and effective use of CSIA programs, products, and services
- Support the planning and follow-up of national snow school engagement initiatives
Expression of Interest
We are inviting expressions of interest from experienced industry leaders who are actively working as Snow School Directors, Assistant Directors, or Head Trainers.
The committee is expected to meet virtually approximately six times per year. CSIA National will work in collaboration with regional committees to appoint a group of approximately 10–12 representatives, reflecting:
- A broad cross-section of resort sizes and operating models
- Balanced regional representation
- Gender diversity
- English and French language representation
- Cultural diversity within the Canadian ski industry
If you, or a member of your leadership team, are interested in contributing to this important initiative, please send an email to
- Your snow school name and location
- The number of ski instructors hired during the season – full-time/part-time
- Indicate some of the biggest challenges experienced at your snow school
- Describe some of the skills you possess and experience you have that you would bring to this committee
All submissions are welcomed and will be thoughtfully considered. Please understand that CSIA wishes to be equitable as well as practical in the formation of the committee. All interested individuals will be contacted regarding the outcome of the selection process. The inaugural committee meeting is anticipated to take place by the end of April 2026, supporting early planning for the 2026–27 season.
We look forward to working in partnership with snow schools across Canada to continue strengthening instructor development, industry collaboration, and the future of skiing.
