Founded in 1938, the CSIA is the professional ski teaching body in Canada. As a not-for-profit and federally recognized teaching institution, we train and certify ski instructors to best serve our partner snow schools and the Canadian skiing public.
Our vision is to be leaders in ski education, dedicated to creating passionate lifelong skiers.
The CSIA sets Canada’s standard for the profession of ski teaching through innovative training and certification programs, contributing to the safety and growth of the industry and enjoyment of skiing for everyone.
INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNIZED
CSIA is a member of the International Ski Instructors’ Association (ISIA). This body encompasses the national ski teaching associations of 38 alpine nations. The ISIA provides a forum to exchange ideas among countries and harmonize certification equivalencies for international standards. Member nations meet annually, and every four years at a larger meeting, called Interski Congress, which is held on snow.
RENOWNED PROGRAMS
CSIA’s education programming features four certification levels and extensive professional development with our Pro Days. Programs are administered under the technical guidelines established by the Technical and Education Committee and the National Office, based out of Montréal, Québec. To become a regular member of the CSIA, you must attend and pass a certification program. Each member has access to all training, education and benefits, and receives communications from CSIA.

OUR SIX REGIONS HAVE CANADA COVERED
Canada has six CSIA Regions, each represented on the Board of Directors. The six members of the national Board of Directors conduct the affairs and business of the CSIA. Regional affairs are addressed through Regional Committees that serve regional needs through member communications and regional events.
