How old do I have to be to take a Snow Park Level 1 Program?

You must be 14 years of age by the first day of the Program. There are no exceptions.

What type of skier must I be to take a Snow Park Level 1 Program?

The Snow Park Level 1 Ski Instructor Certification is for any skier over the age of 14 that is a competent parallel skier on Intermediate terrain. Some experience in terrain park environment is an asset

What if I’ve never taught before?

No worries, that's what the Level 1 Program is all about. The Course Conductors are there to teach you how to instruct a lesson, so that you will be able to go out and deliver a great experience.

How much does a Snow Park Level 1 Program cost?

The cost of the Program varies from region to region. You can find all the information pertaining to Program fees on our Program Schedule or contact the National Office to get more details about the specific Region in which the Program will occur.

I'm interested in taking the Snow Park Level 1 Program this year. Where do I register?

All Snow Park Level 1 Programs are registered through the snowpro.com website, using our Program Schedule.

I took the Snow Park Level 1 Program and was unsuccessful. What should I do next?

You must take a 2 day re-test on any scheduled Level 1 Program. To register please use our Program Schedule.

SNOW PARK LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATION

Snow parks are an ever-increasing attraction for Snow School guests and The CSIA Snow Park Certification is the perfect way to acquire the credentials and the skills to provide inspiring experiences for those wanting to go beyond the traditional ski environment. Whether you are new to teaching, or already a Certified Member of the CSIA, this Program is for you.

PREREQUISITES:

14 years of age on the first day of the Course
Confident parallel skiing on Intermediate terrain
Some experience in terrain park environment is an asset

DURATION: 3 days

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Snow Park Certification Course provides training for your own riding as well as teaching park
skills to children and adults.

What you’ll learn:

Park etiquette and safety awareness
How to teach safely in terrain park
Guest service and communication skills
Canadian teaching approach
Switch skiing, boxes, basic airs, grabs and 180 spins

Candidates will receive instruction on their skiing, as well as feedback on their teaching skills, with the goal of reaching the Snow Park Certification standard in both of these areas. They will also receive suggestions and strategies for long-term development.
