CSIA LEVEL 3 CERTIFICATION
The CSIA Level 3 Certification course is for instructors with practical experience and knowledge, looking to refine their lesson design and skill application to deliver a memorable experience for any skiing guest.
With an in-depth understanding of the relationship between skiing skills and performance, a Level 3 Ski Instructor can not only ski advanced terrain at a refined level but also evolve lessons and adjust their approach to meet any student’s needs. Through a clear and uncomplicated teaching approach, a Level 3 keeps lessons fun, safe and interactive.

PREREQUISITES:
- CSIA Level 2 Certification
DURATION:
3 days for Skiing Development
3 days for Teacher Development
2 days for Exams
Skiing and Teaching “Tracks”
The Level 3 Certification program is offered in Skiing and Teaching “Tracks”. To acquire the complete Level 3 Certification, Members must pass both of the related Skiing and Teaching components; however, independent development in either of the tracks is also possible.
For example, upon completion of the Level 3 Skier Development course, a Member is eligible to proceed to the Level 3 Ski Exam. Similarly, upon completion of the Level 3 Teaching Development course, and provided they have successfully completed the Level 2 Teach Exam, a Member is eligible to proceed to the Level 3 Teaching Exam. Members may only attempt the exam component (Skiing or Teaching) for which they have completed the corresponding development course.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The three-day Level 3 Skier Development course is designed to develop and practice Advanced skiing tactics that will help you refine your own skiing skill and confidence in advanced terrain. With guidance from your Course Conductor, you will explore a number of concepts.
What you’ll learn:
- Advanced ski performance on blue and black groomed and off-piste terrain
- Assessment and development tactics for your own skiing
- Level 3 Ski Exam evaluation criteria
Exposure to the Level 3 Ski-Off runs will provide insight into the effectiveness of your approach and prepare you for the Level 3 Skiing Exam.
How you can prepare:
In preparation, consider attending a Pro Day or Pro Session, which offer training opportunities to hone your skiing and teaching skills and to get feedback on your skiing ability in relation to the Level 3 standard.
Prerequisites Level 3 Skier Development course:
- Successful completion of the Level 2 Skiing Exam
Prerequisites Level 3 Ski Exam:
- Successful completion of the Level 2 Skiing Exam
- Attend Level 3 Skier Development course
- Candidates may attend the Level 3 Ski Exam before passing the Level 2 Teach Exam
